A grading scale contains grades that are a symbolic representation of a student's performance in a class or curriculum. In HeadMaster, each grading scale can consist of a numeric system with up to two letter grade equivalents and a corresponding grade point scale. You must enter a numeric grade in the gradebook to calculate student averages. Also, if you track grade point averages, you must enter a grade points scale. The grading scale can print on report cards so that parents and students know what grades mean for each reporting period.

The table below contains one example of a grading scale.
