9.0C Release 3-26-19

PDS DioOffice 9.0C, released for OnDemand 3-26-19 and for desktop 4-3-19, offers the following enhancements.

New Features

Let Donors Give to a Parish in Abundant

Now, you can select parishes to display in Abundant. This is similar to the way you select which activities show up.

When donors go to Abundant, they can select the parish or activity to give toward.

When you import Abundant transactions in the eGiving process, select a default fund number and activity that parish gifts should post to, such as "Online Payment". You'll see the parish name in the grid. You can also assign a parish to any transaction by selecting the parish name in the grid.

Once you post transactions, gifts to parishes show up on the family's record.

Abundant Updates

We improved some wording and post dates in Abundant to better match bank statements. Now, it posts the date of the actual gift rather than the deposit date. In the eGiving process, you'll see "Gift Date".

We also added an activity to the fund setup template. When setting up a fund, you can select the activity Help Offset the Processing Fees. When donors give, they can select whether to offset the processing costs. If they select to, the money is placed in that fund behind the scenes.

Improved Features

Canadian ACH for eGiving

You can now generate Canadian ACH files for eGiving. If you use a bank in Canada, select I Create ACH Files for eGiving (no credit cards) - Canada in the eGiving Setup window, and enter your information.

When you record a family's contribution, you can select Using eGiving (EFT). Then click EFT Info to enter banking information for the family. The Bank Number, Branch Transit Number, and Account Number are all required to create a Canadian ACH file.

When you're ready, you can post eGiving using the ACH File - Canadian option. This creates a file of transaction information that you'll send to the bank(s) to initiate electronic fund transfers.

Track Changes to Primary Parish

Sometimes, you need to change a family's primary parish. Now, we prompt you to enter a reason for the change. If you've selected Ask for Reason on Significant Changes in the Initial Setup window, the reason displays in the user log so you can keep track of parish changes.

Report Access Options

We heard that some folks were confused about the report access options (shared, public, and private). To help, we reordered the drop-down list so the options display from the least to greatest level of privacy:

  • Public - all users can view, run, and edit the report.
  • Shared - all users can run the report, but only the report owner can edit it.
  • Private - only the report owner can run and edit the report.

Also, when you hover over the drop-down list, descriptions now display for the options.

Useful Information

Remember that report access options only display if you've set up users and a security method in PDS.

For more information, see Designate Access to Reports and Selections.

Print Middle Initials

Many name formats remove the middle initial if it's entered as part of the first name, for example "Mary T.". However, we heard that some churches use the middle initial to identify folks with the same or similar names. So, we added an option to always print the middle initial if it's entered in the first name field.

In the Initial Setup window, on the Family/Member tab, select Include Middle Initials in Family and Member First Names.

Corrections

We fixed the following issues that affected some of our customers:

  • An error displayed when editing a family during the synchronization process.
  • We corrected issues with the fund list order. PDS now detects if you reordered your fund list, and it adds new funds to the top and removes funds that users don't have access to.
  • When importing email addresses from Vanco in eGiving, emails were sometimes associated with the wrong family.
