After setting up the administrative workstation, connect each workstation to the database. You can do this when you log in to HeadMaster for the first time at each workstation.

  • Connect to the database directory when using Terminal Server.
  • Connect to Remote Server when using Windows networking.
  • Connecting to the Database Directory

First you must connect to the HeadMaster database directory.

 To connect to the HeadMaster database
  1. On the Windows taskbar, click Start.
  2. Point to Programs, point to HeadMaster, and then click HeadMaster.
  3. Click the Connection button.
  4. Under Connection Type, select Connect to database directory.
  5. Click the Browse button and navigate to the HMaster directory on your server.
  6. Select the Data directory.
  7. Click OK.

Connecting to the Remote Server

To connect using Remote Server, the remote server must be running. Typically, the server starts and runs automatically. However, you can start the remote server manually and connect each workstation to the HeadMaster database.

 To start the remote server manually
  1. On the Windows taskbar, click Start.
  2. Point to Programs, point to HeadMaster, and then click HeadMaster Server. An icon displays in the system tray.
 To connect each workstation to the HeadMaster database
  1. On the Windows taskbar, click Start.
  2. Point to Programs, point to HeadMaster, and then click HeadMaster.
  3. Click the Connection button.
  4. Under Connection Type select Connect to remote server.
  5. In the Host field, enter the name or IP address of the computer on which the database is installed. This is typically the name of the server.
  6. Click OK.
