When sending group emails from Access ACS, why does the email From: display email@example.com instead of the actual sender's email?
Products affected: Access ACS
Versions affected: Any
In short, this ensures that the members are receiving the group email.
We mask the From: field email address with firstname.lastname@example.org in case the email is label as spam and the recipient does not receive in his or her inbox.
Our email servers look for the From: field email address of each email that passes through. If the domain in the email address being sent is not from accessacs.com or acstechnologies.com, the recipient will not receive that email as a normal email.
The recipients' email servers check the From: field domain name against our email servers here. If the From: address is not a domain name we recognize, the recipient's email server considers it spam. However, when you reply to the email, it sends to the original From: address.
These rules are commonly used by industry standards.
