Prepping for turkey day takes a lot, we understand that your time is divided between the epic struggle of dinner rolls vs crescent rolls (by the way, crescents for the win, no doubt).
While many have been planning the biggest eating day of the year or laying out their plan of attack for the department stores the morning after, our programmers and testers have been hard at work creating the latest and greatest release of Access ACS.
We have made sweeping changes to our group e-mail process, and added Twitter and Facebook functionality. So, not only can you send a group e-mail out about how great your sweet potato casserole came out, you can also tweet it and post pictures of it to Facebook. So in short. . .
Turkey lurkey doo and turkey lurkey what, we have a new release of Access ACS coming out!
This month we are unveiling our new and (hopefully, you think so too) improved group e-mail pages.
Send a Message
The first big thing we did was change the wording for the Group E-mail option to Send a Message. We hope this clears up any confusion or uncertainty surrounding the process.
Before, you had to select from four delivery options before you made it to the e-mail composition page. We removed this step completely, and you are now taken immediately to the Send a Message page.
On the Send a Message page, the total number of people you selected who have e-mail addresses displays near the top of the page.
Click People with e-mail addresses to view the list of individuals with e-mail addresses.
We updated the Edit toolbar. This not only provides more editing functionality, but also improves the visual aesthetics of the page.
For more information about the new toolbar, on the Edit toolbar, click.
The option to send your message to the parents of any children selected now displays beneath the message text box.
Don't want to use our messaging system? No problem. Click Use E-mail Client, select who you want to send a message to, then click Open E-mail Client. The default e-mail client opens, and you can compose and send the message as you would any other e-mail.
Not all the people you select will have e-mail addresses, and depending on which messaging process you opted to use, the list of these individuals displays in two different places.
- If you selected to use our messaging system, after you successfully send the message, you are taken to the Message Results page. The bottom half of this page contains the list of individuals who could not be e-mailed.
- If you selected to use the default e-mail client, this list displays on the same page where you decide who to send the message to.
From either page, you can e-mail yourself the list of people or print mailing labels.
Twitter and Facebook
That's right. In addition to all of the other amazing improvements I listed above, you can now post to Twitter or Facebook!
You can select which accounts you want to post to.
Manage which accounts are used.
To use the message you composed for e-mail, click Refresh using message above. You can even enter a different message to post in the Message to Post text box.
The following enhancements are included in this release of Access ACS.
On the Meeting Times page, we updated the Continue button to read Save and Continue.
Updated the Family, Picture, and Family Picture buttons to read Family Info, Personal Photo, and Family Photo. This should alleviate any confusion or inconsistency that may have occurred with the old wording.
Calendar - Facility Scheduler
Have you needed a way to quickly add events from Access ACS to your personal calendar? Want it to be short and sweet? Access ACS presents you with this, one simple icon to click and send an event iCal to your personal calendar. This icon will only display for confirmed events.
Event Contact Coordinators can now register individuals and accept payments offline for online-payment-only events through the Event Registration Expert. This allows more flexibility for organizations that have individuals who prefer to makes payments in person or through the mail as opposed to online.
Added an EST time stamp to the Scheduled Upload Log.
With this release, an Outreach Connection notification is sent for any connection within the upcoming seven days. The connection is sent out when an upload is made to Access ACS and Change Requests for an Outreach Connection are applied. Once an Outreach Connection has been sent, it will be marked so it is not sent out multiple times.
Available Event Registrations
On the My Overview page, in the I Want to View section and the My Registrations section, we changed the Available Event Registrations wording to read Available Registrations. Members did not know they could use the Available Event Registrations link to register for classes.
When printing the Mark Small Groups attendance page from Internet Explorer, the information in the Guests, Comments, and Praise & Prayer Requests sections do not print.
Changes were not applied to ACSW when updating an Activity Element on an individual's record.
Could not register an individual for an event if you did not have rights to View Personal Details.
Some users received the error Parameter at new value exceeds size limit when adding events with custom questions.
Error occurred when an administrator tried to add a member e-mail address that contained apostrophes.
When using the Forgot Password feature, the system generated member-user passwords with apostrophes.
On the Add/Edit Users page, if the user's previous password was entered for Administrator Change Password, an error occurred.
The Small Groups Web link does not refresh when you switch from Advanced Search to Basic Search.
Could not register a member for a sub event because a family member already registered for another sub-event that was then closed due to limited seating.
When registering through Member Login, temporary passwords with quotation marks were generated.
"Separate" was misspelled on the Small Group Attendance page.
Issue with creating a member or non-member login if password requirements were set to level 3 or higher.
E-mail address not displaying properly in Outlook if it contained an apostrophe.
When resetting a password, you could enter double quotation marks.
Removed the time stamp from the Serving Opportunity widget.
When selecting a sub-event, if the sub-event name was longer than 23 characters, it displayed over the event name.
Issue with Small Group Connections displaying in the Completed section if you reassign the connection but don't select a new group, go to a different page, and then return to Small Group Connections.
When using the Gift Import option, ACH transactions are imported as credit cards.
Corrected an error that occurred when switching between Facility Scheduler and Access ACS when entering Event Registration Events. If the Contact Phone fields do not match in both Facility Scheduler and Access ACS, the error occurs.
Improved the time it takes the Family Directories to return results.
The number of overdue connections did not display in the Overdue column of the Outreach Assignments page.
When printing a small group roster, the column header shifts to the right by one column, but the data does not. This causes the headers to not match the data.
Applied consistent display rules to the Event Registration Seat Capacity warnings.
The Event Registration Payment and Totals pages do not display the correct price amounts if the event prices change.
