Federal and State Tax Updates
This update features updated tax tables for the following states: Arkansas, California, Iowa, Maine, Maryland, Mississippi, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, North Dakota, Oregon, Rhode Island, and South Carolina.
We've also updated Federal payroll tax tables for 2021, so we recommend loading this update AFTER running 2020's final payroll.
OnDemand Tax Release
On January 21, we released a tax update for OnDemand clients on ACS 184.108.40.206.
This includes updated tax tables for the following states: Colorado, Kentucky, Illinois, Michigan, Minnesota, New Mexico, and Vermont.
ACS for Windows clients can download this update on the Client Portal.
Form 1095-C Changes
The IRS updated Form 1095-C to support individual coverage Health Reimbursement Arrangement (HRA) and require a plan start month. This update adds new offer codes 1L-1Q as well as tracking ZIP Codes with those offer codes.
When mass or individually assigning health care coverage terms, you can select one of the new offer codes. If you do, you must select a plan start month and enter a ZIP Code.
- If you use codes 1L, 1M, or 1N, enter the ZIP Code for the employee's residence.
- If you use Codes 1O, 1P, or 1Q, enter the ZIP Code for the employee's primary site of employment.
These ZIP codes also display in the Health Care Coverage Terms area of the Employee Master List report and on the Affordable Care Act Proof List and 1095 Validation reports.
For more information about each code, in the Mass Assign Health Care Coverage Terms window, click on Offer Code. You can also visit the official IRS website and search for "1095-C".
In Accounts Payable, we've updated the 1099 and YTD Adjustment area to display the new Form 1099-NEC and Form 1099-MISC information.
Form 1099-MISC no longer displays Nonemployee Compensation, and several box numbers have changed.
You can order tax forms in the ACS Technologies Online Store.
Employee Social Security Deferrals in 2021
From September 1 to December 31, 2020, organizations could defer employee social security taxes for employees earning less than $4,000 biweekly.
This deferral was optional, and any deferred tax must be paid back from January 1 to December 31, 2021.
Once you've deducted the deferral from the employee's paychecks, you'll need to issue a W-2C with a corrected Box 4 amount. To learn more, see Employee Social Security Deferrals and the IRS article, Form W-2 Reporting of Employee Social Security Tax Deferred under Notice 2020-65.
Advanced Export Fields
In Advanced Exports, you can now include the spouse's preferred phone number in the File Export or Database Export.
We corrected these issues that some clients experienced:
- If a group had a required reserve list in Access ACS, nothing happened when you applied a change request. Now, you can import changes, but you must complete the reserve field inside of ACS People Suite.
- After searching in ACS People Suite, if an Individual or Numbers field was included in the results grid before the Name field, no results displayed when previewing.
